Heating spiral sliced ham1/1/2024 I do hope you enjoy, and happy holidays from Palatable Pastime. Very good for repurposing the leftover meat! Overall it is pretty basic, the way honey baked hams usually taste. The couple extra ingredients I use just serve to deepen the complexity of flavor and accentuate the ham. The Coke in this might at first seem weird, but it really isn’t, being mostly a sugary syrup which most hams have baked with them in some form of glaze, often made from scratch with brown sugar or maple syrup. The rear portion never is sliced, and that is okay because that is the part I save (along with the bone) for other uses, such as ham and beans. ![]() I recommend running a boning or filet knife around the circular bone to help free up the meat. And none of these hams are cleanly sliced even now. The first spiral sliced ham I bought to try a number of years ago really wasn’t very well sliced at all and most of the ham shredded trying to get it off. I have been buying those for a few years now since they have learned how to slice them better. It is a southern tradition, one usually made with whole hams but in this case I did use the spiral sliced ham. Around the holidays, that is a godsend, as it allows me time to deal with more intricate and time consuming recipes. ![]() I want something easy that I can basically toss in a pan and then just tend every half hour until it is done. This is a simple recipe, and I like simple. ![]() Spiral Sliced Coca-Cola Ham by Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime Spiral Sliced Coca-Cola Ham is a classic and simple southern style baked ham with a baste made from the popular soda/pop.
